Columbia, South Carolina – Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford has identified the victim who died as a consequence of a shooting at a local hotel last week.

According to Rutherford, Zakiyah Ali, 30, of Columbia, died on Tuesday, two days after being shot.

On Sunday, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department (RCSD) arrested and accused 33-year-old Jerry Williams with attempted murder and possessing a firearm during a violent felony.

According to RCSD, Williams’ allegations resulted from an incident at 8310 Two Notch Road approximately 6 p.m. on Sunday. An online search brings up an InTown Suites location.

According to the sheriff’s department, deputies found Ali at the scene with an upper-body gunshot wound. EMS later arrived and transported her to the hospital.

According to RCSD, deputies later determined Ali was shot by Williams during an argument.

Records show Williams was booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center following his arrest.
