Until he became different colors: Mother admits to killing two boys years apart by holding their nostrils and threatened to kill her daughters, according to authorities.

A 21-year-old Georgia woman, Dakota Taylor, faces murder charges for allegedly suffocating her two infant sons to death—in 2021 (Micah, 7 months) and earlier in 2025 (Caleb, 8 months)—with witnesses and inmates reporting her confessions. She was arrested in November 2025 and has a prior history with child welfare authorities over threats and violence toward her young daughters.

Prior Child Welfare Issues

As a teenager, Taylor came under scrutiny from the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) for her two daughters, born before 2020. Living in a group home while pregnant with Micah, she allegedly threatened to kill them via Twitter and texts, and once held a knife to one daughter’s throat to stop the father from leaving. DFCS deemed her “unfit” with a “lack of attachment,” placing the girls in foster care where they were later adopted.

Deaths of Her Sons

Micah died nine days after Taylor briefly ran away from the group home; he was found blue and unresponsive in a baby swing, with police noting her “nonchalant” demeanor. In January 2025, Taylor brought 8-month-old Caleb—already unresponsive with blue hands under a blanket—to a relative’s house, where he died at a hospital. Reports say she knew he was dead before driving there.

Confessions and Charges

  • Micah’s father told investigators in 2023 that Taylor admitted cutting inside the baby’s nose and holding a COVID mask over his face until he stopped breathing.
  • Her half-sister recounted Taylor describing pinching Micah’s nose and covering his face until he changed colors and stilled.
  • An inmate reported Taylor confessing to killing Caleb beforehand.

Taylor faces murder charges in Jefferson and DeKalb Counties. At a March 2026 bond hearing in Jefferson County, she got a $150,000 cash/$300,000 property bond option (family says she can’t pay); no bond in DeKalb. Next court date: April 7 in DeKalb County.
