“We are now having a gangland-type slaying, and a lot of this gang violence seems to be concentrated in our Haitian communities.”
He urged members of the Haitian community to cooperate with law enforcement to help identify how illegal firearms are entering the islands.
“What is happening here is unlike anything we’ve ever seen before,” Misick added. “This is not a situation we should accept.”
Injuries and Hospital Response
Acting Governor Anya Williams confirmed that nine out of the ten people injured suffered gunshot wounds. Injuries ranged from minor to severe, and two victims were flown overseas for further medical care. The hospital in Providenciales was placed on lockdown to protect the victims and prevent any possible follow-up violence.
Reward Offered for Information
Authorities are offering a $10,000 reward for any information leading to the capture of the suspects. The motive for the shooting is still unclear, and investigators are working to piece together what led to the deadly attack.
