Three individuals from Coventry, England, have been charged with the murder of 37-year-old Thomas Niven, whose body was discovered in a trash bin in a local park.

Incident Details

Thomas Niven, known as Tom, was found by a member of the public in a Coventry City Council wheelie bin at Cash’s Park off Daimler Road around 5 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2026. West Midlands Police believe he was struck by a vehicle before his body was moved to the location. The victim was formally identified on March 17.

Charges and Suspects

Tammy Sturdy (45), Camron Sturdy (21), and Shane Turkington (37), all Coventry residents, were arrested on March 16 and charged with murder on March 18. They have been remanded in custody and appeared at Coventry Magistrates’ Court on March 19.

Investigation Update

Detective Chief Inspector Phil Poole noted a large team of detectives and forensic experts is working nonstop, following leads from public appeals. Police continue supporting Niven’s family during this time.

Family Statement

Niven’s family described him as a “pillar of strength,” loving toward family and animals, full of laughter, music, pool, and harmless pranks. They expressed profound grief, stating his life was “tragically cut short in the most cruel way” and he will be forever missed.
