An Ohio man has been charged with murder in relation to the death of his girlfriend’s 5-month-old daughter.

A Franklin County Municipal Court judge set Glenn McIntosh’s bond at $2 million during a hearing on Wednesday, October 15, according to the Columbus Dispatch.

According to a press release from the Columbus Division of Police, medics were dispatched to the 4000 block of Willard Brook Road in Madison Township shortly before 11 a.m. on Oct. 13 for a newborn who was having difficulties breathing.

The infant girl, later named by her mother as Ameira Reynolds, was taken to a hospital and confirmed dead at 6:32 p.m., authorities said.

“During the examination of the infant, doctors found the infant sustained injuries that were not consistent with the information provided to the detectives investigating this incident,” according to a release.

She died after serious blunt force injuries to the head, according to Franklin County Municipal Court records, 10WBSN reported.

Assistant Franklin County Prosecutor Shania Goble stated at the Oct. 15 bond hearing that McIntosh had been living with Ameira’s mother for three months and was watching the infant while she left the house for roughly an hour on Oct. 13, according to the Dispatch.

According to Goble, McIntosh allegedly fled the house as soon as the mother returned, at which point the infant was discovered unconscious and limp.

During the hearing, Ameira’s mother’s statement was read in court.

“You asked me to trust you, and I trusted you with my baby, and you took her from me,” she wrote, according to WSYX. “I do not deserve to have to bury my 5-month-old baby. I can’t believe I dropped my guard and trusted you. You harmed her and let her suffer. A vulnerable baby. How dare you. You are a monster, and you will reap what you have sown.”

Ameira’s mother posted on GoFundMe, “My sweet angel, Ameira, was taken from us way too soon.” A mother is never ready to bury her child; please help us bring my baby to glory. Her huge eyes, her wonderful smile, and all of our treasured memories of her will last forever.”

A preliminary hearing is set for October 24, according to Franklin County court records.
