A tragic shooting in Alexandria, Louisiana, on December 6, 2025, left 9-year-old Tre’Michael critically injured after being shot by his 10-year-old friend. Police initially treated the incident as accidental but later determined it was intentional following further investigation. The older boy faces juvenile charges including aggravated second-degree battery and possession of a handgun.​

Victim’s Injuries

Tre’Michael suffered severe wounds, losing his right kidney, half of his left lung, and sustaining shattered intestines from the bullet. His mother, Lakisha Ledguies, recounted that upon regaining speech after having a breathing tube removed, he immediately told her, “Mama, he shot me on purpose.” He remains in recovery, with a GoFundMe raising funds amid an “unimaginable journey” for the family.​

Suspect and Charges

The 10-year-old’s identity remains undisclosed due to his juvenile status; he was arrested and placed at the Renaissance Home for Youth. Authorities have not revealed how the child accessed the firearm, and no additional charges against others have been announced as of January 11, 2026.
