A British teenager obsessed with horror films, particularly Chucky dolls, has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in his father’s death and harming family members. Fabio Botros, now 20, received an indefinite hospital order after the violent April 2025 attack in Brighton.
Attack Details
On the day of the incident, neighbors heard screams, prompting first responders to find Emad Samir Botros critically wounded from hammer blows. Police arrested Fabio at the scene, discovering two knives and a hammer; his mother had been stabbed in the face, and his young brother struck on the head—both survived with serious injuries.
Court Findings
Prosecutors described a trivial argument over trip baggage escalating: Fabio struck his father (then 19 himself), grabbed a kitchen knife to stab his mother, and hammered the boy. His mental health had severely deteriorated after misdiagnoses of autism and depression, deemed “the worst they had ever known” by experts.
Sentencing Outcome
At Lewes Crown Court, Fabio admitted manslaughter (due to mental state) and grievous bodily harm. The indefinite hospital order means detention in a secure facility until psychiatrists deem him safe—no fixed prison term.
