Teen Suspect in Parents' Murders Who Begged True Crime Influencers to Cover Killing Seen Smiling in Court—Before She Cried

Carrollton, GA – Sarah Grace Patrick, a 17-year-old from Georgia, charged in connection with the February murders of her mother, Kristin Brock (41), and stepfather, James Brock (45), was seen smiling in court this week before breaking down as testimony began.

According to COURT TV coverage, Patrick entered the Carroll County courtroom on Aug. 19, smiling and hugging her attorneys before sitting down. However, as the testimony started, she became visibly emotional, especially during the accounts given by her pastor, friends, and a woman who took her in after the murders.

Kaitlin O’Keefe, the woman who provided support for Patrick, testified that the teen was often motivated to complete her homework by thinking of her deceased mother. As O’Keefe spoke, Patrick was seen crying and breaking down several times.

Timeline of the Murder and Arrest

Patrick was arrested in July, months after her 6-year-old sister discovered the bodies of her parents at their Carrollton home. After the grim discovery, Patrick was the one who called 911 to report the killings. Despite this, she later reached out to true crime influencers to request coverage of the case, drawing attention to her parents’ deaths.

In a TikTok message sent to true crime blogger Allegedly Reportedly, a user named “Sarah Grace” offered information about the case, asking the blogger to cover the murders. The message read: “I think it would be a really big hit,” and also referenced how the murders were depicted when googling the victims’ names.

Charges and Court Proceedings

Patrick is facing two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated assault, as announced by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office. Following this week’s court appearance, a judge ruled that she would remain in jail, as the motive behind the killings has not yet been revealed.

The judge also confirmed that Patrick has not yet been indicted, setting her arraignment date for Sept. 22.
