Noel Bermudez-Chin, an 18-year-old from East Northport, New York, faces second-degree murder charges for allegedly stabbing his grandmother’s 61-year-old fiancé, Joseph Falvo, to death on March 29, 2026.

Incident Details

Police responded to Bermudez-Chin’s 3:42 a.m. 911 call reporting a stabbing in a trailer—where all three lived post-December 2025 house fire. Prosecutors say he admitted throwing boiling oil and water on sleeping Falvo, then stabbing him “five or six times in the back and stomach.” Falvo died at the hospital; no motive disclosed.

Victim and Background

Falvo was engaged to Cecilia Bermudez (Bermudez-Chin’s grandmother) since February, with a July wedding planned. The attack occurred in a trailer on the residence’s yard.

Arraigned March 30 in Central Islip; held without bail at Suffolk County PD’s 3rd Precinct. Next court date: April 3.
