An Upstate man will serve over three decades in prison for murder. The 7th Circuit Solicitor’s Office reports that Jimmy Lee Salters, 50, was found guilty of murder, armed robbery, arson, and weapons violations.
In August 2023, Leroy Palmer Jr. was discovered dead inside his car, which had been burned in a wooded area near Woodruff. Palmer was reported missing before he was discovered dead.
Investigators say Salters and an associate met Palmer in a Spartanburg parking lot and shot him several times. The two then took Palmer’s car to a remote location and set it on fire with him inside. According to court documents, surveillance video and cell phone records helped to corroborate this.
Salters has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for the murder charge. He also received concurrent sentences for the other charges.
