A 66-year-old Texas man, Dennis William Day, has been arrested for the murder of his roommate, 47-year-old Rana Nofal Soluri, after he admitted to strangling her and dumping her body off a bridge. Day is facing one count of murder, as confirmed by the Fort Worth Police Department.
The Disappearance of Rana Nofal Soluri
Soluri had been missing for several months before her disappearance was officially reported. A concerned co-worker contacted authorities earlier this month after Soluri had not been seen since March 2025. Soluri, a flight attendant, had taken a leave of absence for minor surgery and was expected to return to work by March 31. However, she never showed up. The last communication her co-worker had with her was on March 19, when their conversation abruptly ended.
As the investigation into her disappearance began, Day was immediately considered a person of interest due to the fact that he and Soluri had been living together for about a year. A video obtained by police, dated March 19, showed Soluri with her handgun, and a man’s voice was heard shouting in the background. This raised further suspicions about Day’s involvement.
Growing Suspicion and Evidence Against Day
Investigation into Soluri’s travel records revealed that she had not flown anywhere since October 2024, which was unusual given her job as a flight attendant. Further questioning of her supervisor confirmed that it was out of character for Soluri not to call in or show up to work.
In May, police towed Soluri’s vehicle from Day’s residence on Grantland Circle in Fort Worth. Day claimed the vehicle had been parked for two months, the same length of time since he last saw Soluri. He also admitted to moving some of her belongings into a storage shed, though he showed no concern for her whereabouts.
A search of Soluri’s cellphone revealed that her last communication took place on March 21. The phone pinged a tower located about five miles from her home around 3:52 p.m. that day, further suggesting foul play.
Video Surveillance and Confession
On June 23, police obtained surveillance footage from Day’s home, which ultimately led to his arrest. The footage showed Day dragging what appeared to be a lifeless body from the house into the backyard on the night of March 21. The video cut off after that, and the cameras were not functioning for several days afterward, raising red flags for investigators.
When confronted with this evidence, Day confessed to the crime. He told police that Soluri had threatened to call the authorities on him, which caused him to “snap.” According to Day, he strangled her on the kitchen floor before dragging her body outside. He later loaded the body into a trash bin and dumped it over a bridge in Bowie, Texas, about 70 miles northwest of Fort Worth. Day also admitted to tossing Soluri’s cellphone into a river and provided investigators with the location of her gun, which was subsequently recovered.
Dennis William Day’s brutal crime has left a community shaken and devastated by the death of Rana Nofal Soluri. His actions, which included strangling his roommate and disposing of her body in a cold and calculated manner, have resulted in his arrest and a murder charge. This case highlights the dangers of domestic violence and the tragic consequences of unchecked anger.
