Shocking Video Captures Baltimore Cop Seems to Try to Run Over Pedestrian

A startling video appears to show a Baltimore police officer attempting to run over a civilian with his automobile.

The video begins with the man documenting the incident telling a police officer that he saw no cause to halt his friend, who was walking away down an alley.

The officer then gets into his squad car and accelerates at the pedestrian, who reverses direction and tries to avoid the vehicle.

The footage shows the officer turning toward the man and coming dangerously close to striking him as the pedestrian flees away from the vehicle.

The Baltimore Police Department stated that it was aware of the officer’s “concerning actions” in a statement. The officer has been suspended, and the department has opened an inquiry.

“What is seen in this video is not only disturbing, but also alarming,” police commissioner Richard Worley said in a statement. “This is not how we expect our officers to behave and this incident does not reflect the values or standards of the Baltimore Police Department.”

Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott also issued a statement about the video.

“The contents of the video are really troubling. “The officer in question has been suspended, and the situation is being investigated,” Scott stated. “This investigation will be thorough, in accordance with all laws and regulations, to ensure proper accountability.”

WBAL spoke with the individual who captured the video on camera, who stated that his friend was fine but had a bashed up knee that was sore.
