Authorities in Kansas have issued a reward for information on a lady caught on home security tape being carried away by a guy while screaming and obviously attempting to free herself from his clutches.
Wichita Police released a 20-second video taken outside a residence in Wichita, Kan., on Monday, Oct. 13.
The video begins with the man holding the woman from behind as she appears to attempt to get free. He tightly wraps his arms around her, holding her in place.
She yells, ostensibly for help, as a man in a black T-shirt and jeans grabs her, drags her, and turns her around.
He continues down the driveway of the property, seemingly in complete control of the woman, before the two vanish from view of the camera. The woman’s muffled screams are heard once more before the video finishes.
During a press conference on Tuesday, October 14, Wichita police claimed the footage was taken early Sunday morning. Officers returned to the scene that evening, where the homeowner showed them Ring doorbell video footage from the incident at 2 a.m.
Responding officers searched the area for leads, checking for missing persons reports dating back to October 1 as well as disturbance calls in the vicinity, but found no information matching the woman’s description, police said on Tuesday.
Wichita police officers informed reporters at a news conference that they are “operating under the assumption this is a legitimate incident,” and that their major worry is the woman in the video’s safety.
Police stated that they believe there is no danger to the larger community.
Crime Stoppers has offered a $2,000 reward for any information leading to the identify of the guy or woman in the video.
Police are encouraging the public to share any information they may have, and they have urged the woman in the video to contact them if she is safe.
Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at 316-267-2111, or Crimestoppers online or by calling 911.
