Jeny Soto-Duenas, 52, from Fort Walton Beach, Florida, was arrested on December 3, 2025, and charged with two counts of child neglect causing great bodily harm after allegedly burning the hands of two children, ages 3 and 5, in her care. The incident occurred early on December 2, 2025, in a trailer on Barks Drive, where she reportedly became frustrated when the children asked for more food after eating and intentionally pressed their hands onto a hot griddle, holding them down. She provided no medical treatment, leading to severe second- and third-degree burns on their palms.

Incident and Investigation

The children arrived at Destin-Fort Walton Beach Hospital around 10:30 p.m. on December 2 with untreated burns, prompting Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies to respond. A family member reported Soto-Duenas’ admission of the act due to frustration over the food request. The victims were transferred to the USA Burn Center in Mobile, Alabama, for specialized care.

Current Status

Soto-Duenas remains held without bond at Okaloosa County Jail and is subject to an ICE detainer. The relationship between her and the children has not been specified in reports.
