Police say an 18-year-old was killed at Walmart after allegedly kicking a man's shopping cart

An 18-year-old Georgia man was stabbed to death after allegedly kicking the shopping cart of another man, who is now charged with murder.

The Chatham County Police Department announced the arrest of 48-year-old Delano Middleton after the 18-year-old was “stabbed during an altercation” at a Walmart on October 23.

A GoFundMe page identified the victim as J.T. Schroeder. He died days after being stabbed.

According to the police department, Middleton was leaving Walmart when Schroeder kicked his shopping cart.

Police said Schroeder was found with multiple stab wounds and lacerations.

After Schroeder died, Middleton was charged with murder, according to Chatham County court documents. It was unclear whether he had entered a plea and does not yet have an attorney listed.

Schroeder’s father, J.T., told WJCL that the police department’s claim that his son kicked the shopping cart does not tell the whole picture.

“My son was never, ever confrontational unless he was confronted first,” the elder Schroeder told the publication.

The father stated that when he was notified of the occurrence, he went to the spot as soon as possible.

“I got over there as fast as I could and saw blood everywhere,” said the reporter. “He was literally stabbed over ten times until he finally bled out and died.”
