A violent incident in San Antonio has led to the arrest of a man accused of stabbing another man, allegedly following instructions from the victim’s ex-girlfriend. The case has raised serious concerns about planned attacks and personal disputes turning dangerous.

Man Arrested in Stabbing Case

Police say Abel Ali Rivas, 27, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The alleged victim, Oscar Javier Barbosa, 32, survived the attack but suffered serious injuries.

Authorities believe the incident was not random but planned, involving Barbosa’s ex-girlfriend.

Alleged Role of Ex-Girlfriend

Melanie Sierra Gomez, 31, was arrested earlier in connection with the same case. Police say she allegedly lured Barbosa to a YMCA location where he had gone to pick up his children.

Investigators claim she directed Rivas during the confrontation, telling him to act before the stabbing took place.

What Happened During the Attack

According to reports:

  • Barbosa arrived at the YMCA for a child custody exchange
  • Gomez allegedly asked him to go in and out of the building
  • When he stepped outside, Rivas was waiting
  • A verbal argument started between the three

During the confrontation, Barbosa was reportedly stabbed multiple times in the abdomen and arms. Police say Gomez also held him in place, preventing him from escaping.

Aftermath of the Incident

After the attack:

  • Rivas allegedly fled the scene in Barbosa’s car
  • Gomez left shortly after
  • Barbosa was taken to the hospital with serious injuries

He later identified both suspects to the police.

Legal Status of the Case

Rivas is currently in custody with a bond set at $105,000, which also includes a separate drug-related charge. Gomez was arrested earlier and later released on bond.

The case remains under investigation as authorities gather more evidence.
