A deceased newborn was discovered behind a mound of leaves behind a public housing complex in New York City, according to cops.
An NYPD spokeswoman tells PEOPLE that officers responded to a 911 call Thursday morning regarding an unresponsive baby discovered behind the New York City Housing Authority’s Bay View Houses in Canarsie, Brooklyn.
“Upon arrival, officers were informed that an unidentified male newborn had been found unconscious and unresponsive,” a spokeswoman told me.
EMS arrived and pronounced the as-yet unidentified baby boy dead on the scene. No arrests have been made, according to the spokeswoman.
According to PIX11, the New York Daily News, and NBC New York, the boy’s body was discovered in a black bag buried among leaves. The baby will have an autopsy to discover when and how he died.
Police are still investigating.
