People are insane: A DoorDash driver who was instructed to slow down uses a sucker punch to throw an elderly man into a coma, according to his family.

A 75-year-old Michigan man, Lloyd Poole, remains in serious condition after a DoorDash driver allegedly punched him during a road rage incident in Wixom on December 28. The driver, 40-year-old Ryan Turner, reportedly confronted Poole over speeding in the neighborhood, felt threatened, and struck him, causing Poole to fall and hit his head. Turner turned himself in, was charged with misdemeanor aggravated assault, posted a reduced bond of $3,500 from an initial $35,000, and faces court on January 14.

Victim’s Condition

Poole underwent emergency brain surgery to remove part of his skull and has been in a coma in intensive care. His daughter, Jen Shaw, described the unprovoked “sucker punch” and expressed uncertainty about his recovery timeline, from days to potentially a year. As of early January 2026 reports, he remains unconscious and hospitalized.

Suspect’s Background

Turner has a prior 2022 conviction for a separate road rage assault, after which he lost his driver’s license. Despite this, he was delivering for DoorDash at the time of the incident.

DoorDash Response

DoorDash issued a statement condemning the violence, permanently banning Turner from the platform, and cooperating with Wixom police. The company emphasized zero tolerance for such behavior.
