SOUTH CAROLINA— A man is facing many charges, including two counts of attempted murder, after a domestic incident resulted in shooting Thursday night in Oconee County, according to the sheriff’s office.
A domestic disturbance was reported at a property on White Harbour Road near Seneca, so deputies arrived. As they arrived, deputies reported hearing gunfire. A guy, later identified as 55-year-old Michael Wayne Witt, emerged from the house and fired multiple shots towards a constable.
According to authorities, Witt repeatedly entered and exited the home while resisting commands before approaching deputies. He was eventually apprehended with a Taser and taken into custody.
During a search of the property, deputies discovered that a lady involved in the incident had left after Witt allegedly fired at her and held a gun to her head.
Witt was taken to Oconee Memorial Hospital and processed into the Oconee County Detention Centre on Friday morning.
He is charged with two charges of attempted murder, assault on a police officer while resisting arrest, aggravated breach of peace, possession of a weapon while committing a violent crime, and malicious injury to real property.
