SOUTH CAROLINA— Spartanburg City Police say a teenager was shot and killed early Saturday morning after gunfire was fired into his residence.
Just before 1 a.m., officers rushed to Amherst Drive and discovered an unresponsive male under the age of 18 in the living room. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
According to investigators, the teen was seated in the living room when someone in the front yard opened fire through a window, striking him at least twice.
The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office has yet to announce the victim’s name. Police believe the incident was deliberate.
“This appears to be a targeted incident, and it is truly unfortunate that a young person lost their life in this manner,” stated Spartanburg Police Major Art Littlejohn. “We ask the community to keep the victim’s family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
