A Kentucky mother charged with her baby’s drowning death has pleaded guilty.
Amber Winstead, 36, pled guilty to manslaughter on Friday, Oct. 31, according to court papers obtained by local news sources WHAS 11, WLKY and WDRB.
On New Year’s Day, Winstead’s three-month-old baby drowned in a motel bathtub in Louisville, according to authorities. According to WDRB, she admitted to taking drugs that day and falling asleep in the bathtub with the infant.
When she awoke hours later, the infant was immersed in the tub and had drowned, investigators claimed, according to WLKY.
Winstead’s attorney stated that his client is reaching the completion of a drug treatment program and has asked the court to place her on home arrest until her sentencing in December, according to WLKY.
