A 10-year-old boy named Khaleb Jackson died in a hit-and-run crash on December 28, 2025, at the intersection of Riverdale Road and Garden Walk Boulevard in Clayton County, Georgia. He was crossing the street with his 14-year-old brother and two cousins to reach a bus stop when David Blanchard, 52, struck him with his vehicle around 9 p.m. and fled the scene, despite the boy being just steps from Southern Regional Hospital.
Arrest and Charges
A witness followed Blanchard’s vehicle, obtained the license plate number, and alerted police, leading to his arrest hours later. Blanchard faces charges of first-degree homicide by vehicle and hit-and-run, with no bond granted during his initial court appearance before Clayton County Magistrate Judge Betrice Scott.
Family’s Grief
Khaleb’s mother, Brandi Jackson, expressed heartbreak over the driver’s failure to stop, noting her son’s siblings tried to help but were too young. The family recently lost Khaleb’s infant sister to SIDS nine months earlier, compounding their tragedy just days after Christmas. A GoFundMe has raised over $3,800 for funeral costs.
