Hazel Park, Michigan – Authorities in Michigan have arrested a 43-year-old suspect in connection with the tragic deaths of 41-year-old Linda Hill and her 12-year-old son, Kardi Jackson, whose bodies were discovered with traumatic injuries in their Hazel Park home on Monday, Sept. 1.
The Discovery of the Victims
On the afternoon of Sept. 1, local police responded to the scene of a gruesome discovery at the home of Linda Hill and her son, Kardi. Both victims were found dead with injuries to their necks, as reported by Click on Detroit.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office and Hazel Park Police launched a swift investigation into the double homicide, and by Tuesday evening, Sept. 2, they made an arrest after executing a search warrant in Pontiac, a neighboring city. Authorities have not yet named the suspect, who is currently in custody.
Mourning the Loss of Linda and Kardi
Family and friends of Linda and Kardi have expressed their heartbreak, remembering them as caring and loving individuals. L’Keisha Whitfield, Linda’s sister, set up a GoFundMe to help with funeral costs. She described her sister as someone who was always ready to help others, saying, “Linda was loved by everyone who knew her; she would have given the shirt off her back to help others.”
Whitfield also spoke of Kardi, remembering him as a “sweet” boy who loved his video games and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Demontez Hill, Linda’s 21-year-old son and Kardi’s older brother, spoke to Click on Detroit in shock. He described Kardi as being “like a younger version of me, always playing around and having fun.”
A former teacher of Kardi’s also expressed sorrow, sharing the GoFundMe on social media and remembering him as a “kind young man.” Kardi’s school also released a statement offering condolences to the family.
Arrest and Investigation
While police have not yet disclosed the suspect’s name or a motive behind the killings, they do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the community. The suspect is currently in custody, but charges have not yet been made public. Investigators continue to piece together the details surrounding this tragic event.
