A New York father has been found guilty of murder in the October 2024 death of his girlfriend’s adolescent son.

Michael Raimondi, 15, was killed in his family’s Somers, New York, home on October 28, 2024, according to the Westchester County District Attorney’s office.

Michael’s mother, Christina Raimondi, and his 13-year-old brother were both shot but survived the attacks.

Fernando Jimenez Meza pleaded guilty to many counts, including second-degree murder, on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025, according to a news release from the district attorney’s office.

Christina and Meza, 41, were in a relationship at the time, according to The Journal and ABC 7 NY.

According to the announcement, Meza was involved in a “verbal dispute” at the Raimondi residence the night of the murder. Following the fight, Meza retrieved a handgun from his car and shot Christina.

He then entered the children’s bedroom and fired several bullets at Michael and Matthew.

Michael was killed during the event.

Matthew and Christina were both in critical condition after the shooting, according to their family, who put up a GoFundMe page shortly after the attacks. Christina was fighting for her life, according to the fundraising page.

In an obituary published online in November 2024, Michael was recalled as a curious boy with “boundless imagination” who lived amid animals and nature and built “unique automotive LEGO masterpieces” with his family.

“A born tinkerer, Michael saw limitless possibilities in everyday objects,” read a portion of the tribute. Later, the writer added: “…when he chose to express himself, he was purposeful with his words-whether or not you caught his message through his layers of cleverness and wit was on you.”

In a July 2025 GoFundMe update, Christina stated that the family was relocating and about to close on a new home.

“This is my first home purchase, something I never imagined doing alone,” she said. “I wish Michael were here with us to experience this occasion. He deserved to be here. “I miss him every day.”

In addition to the murder charge, Meza admitted to attempted murder, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and menacing, according to the announcement.

He is set to be sentenced in December.
