A Pennsylvania man and woman are facing charges after authorities say a violent domestic dispute left a 3-month-old infant with life-threatening injuries.
Infant Seriously Injured During Domestic Dispute
Police in Lancaster responded to a home on Union Street around 3:34 a.m. on Feb. 15 after receiving a report of a domestic incident involving a child.
When officers arrived, they learned an infant had suffered a severe head injury during an altercation inside the home.
The child was initially taken to a local hospital before being transferred to a specialized medical center due to the seriousness of her condition.
Severe Injuries Reported
According to court documents, the baby sustained a fractured skull and intracranial bleeding.
Investigators say the injuries were the result of multiple acts of violence during the incident.
Allegations Against Suspects
Luis Reyes-Pagan, 46, has been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, and endangering the welfare of children.
Kimberlyn Videa-Dubon, 30, the child’s mother, faces similar charges along with an additional count of harassment.
Authorities say the dispute began as an argument over a cellphone.
According to investigators, Reyes-Pagan told police that Videa-Dubon struck him while holding the infant. He claimed he swung his fist toward her and accidentally struck the baby.
Officials allege the infant was injured more than once during the altercation. Videa-Dubon is also accused of throwing the baby onto a bed and striking others who attempted to intervene.
Additional Concerns
Court records indicate another child was present in the home at the time of the incident, though authorities have not released further details about that child’s condition or whereabouts.
Court Proceedings
Both defendants were arraigned and released on $50,000 unsecured bail.
They are scheduled to appear in court for preliminary hearings on April 27 as the case moves forward.
