A Pennsylvania man, Steven Heald, 38, allegedly shot his estranged wife’s new boyfriend, Joshua Logan, 45, in a targeted attack outside a Planet Fitness in East Huntingdon Township on January 13, 2026.
Attack Details
Logan had just finished a workout and was heading to his truck around noon when Heald pulled up, confronted him with “You got a problem?”, and fired multiple shots, striking Logan’s shoulder, buttocks, hip, and thigh. Heald then pistol-whipped and punched Logan 15-20 times in the head as he lay bleeding, reportedly saying “Now you get it” after Logan pleaded he was dying. Gym members, including a nurse, provided critical aid to stop the bleeding until first responders arrived; police noted Logan likely wouldn’t have survived without their quick help.
Prior Interactions
Heald and Logan had spoken face-to-face twice and texted over the five months Logan dated Heald’s estranged wife, with no prior violence. On the shooting day, Heald sought Logan at the gym after noticing his truck, deviating from Logan’s usual routine. Surveillance video captured the confrontation escalating rapidly.
Charges and Status
Heald faces attempted criminal homicide, aggravated assault, and misdemeanor stalking. He fled in his black Ford truck, then surrendered to police in Connellsville. At his January preliminary hearing, bail was set at $500,000; he’s held in Westmoreland County Jail awaiting March 18 arraignment. This marks the second such ex-partner shooting in the area within weeks.
