A gunfight in Greece resulted in the deaths of two persons and the injuries of at least four more.
According to authorities, the event occurred at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, near the town of Vorizia on the Greek island of Crete, as reported by the Associated Press and Greek news outlet EPT News.
According to police, the event resulted in the deaths of a 39-year-old man and a 56-year-old woman. Emergency services sent at least four more persons to the hospital owing to injuries, two of whom are under police guard for their alleged involvement in the incident.
The AP reports that an investigation into the incident is underway in the little alpine community.
According to the site, the shooting was the consequence of an alleged long-running conflict between two families that began with a dispute over the use of grazing areas in the rural area. According to the AP, an explosion occurred in the town on Friday evening, Oct. 31, which was tied to the rivalry and subsequent shooting.
According to EPT News, two people reportedly involved in the shooting on Sunday, Nov. 2, were charged with homicide and attempted homicide. these went on to say that these were the same two people that were under police guard at the hospital.
EPT News reports that authorities are looking for three more people they believe were involved in the shooting.
On Sunday, November 2, PEOPLE contacted EKAB, Greece’s national emergency medical service, and the Hellenic Police for comment, but did not receive an instant answer.
