Taylor Renee Roediger, 40, of Mesa, Arizona, is in jail accused of second‑degree murder in the March 30, 2026, shooting of her former roommate during a chaotic, alcohol‑fueled confrontation tied to a love triangle. The incident unfolded late at night at Roediger’s home near Sossaman Road and Southern Avenue in Mesa, about 18 miles east of Phoenix.
What police say happened
Around midnight, the victim—described as drunk and still involved with her ex‑boyfriend, who was now Roediger’s current boyfriend—showed up at the house trying to “rekindle” the relationship. Roediger saw her on a bedroom security monitor, confronted her at the front door, and told her to leave. After a verbal argument, Roediger went for a walk, hoping the boyfriend would get the woman to leave while she was gone.
When Roediger returned, she found the woman naked in the kitchen with her boyfriend. The victim allegedly asked if she could have sex with either the boyfriend or the couple, which escalated into a physical fight. After Roediger briefly left a second time, the situation worsened: the victim and the boyfriend reportedly threatened to “beat” her, and Roediger grabbed a gun from behind the headboard.
The shooting and aftermath
As the argument continued, the victim apparently went into the bathroom and then shouted, “Just shoot me,” while standing near the wall shared with the bathroom and bedroom. Roediger fired a single shot at that wall, striking the woman in the upper body. The victim collapsed near the front door and later died. Police say Roediger later claimed she only meant to scare the two of them into leaving.
After the shooting, Roediger allegedly took the gun, buried it in a neighbor’s planter box, and hid in another neighbor’s RV down the street, where officers arrested her shortly afterward. She is now held in the Maricopa County Jail on a $500,000 cash‑only bond, facing one count of second‑degree murder.
