A tragic school bus crash in west Tennessee has left families and an entire school community in deep shock. What was meant to be a normal field trip turned into a heartbreaking incident that no parent or student ever expects.
Two Students Killed in Tennessee School Bus Crash
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the crash happened around noon on Highway 70 in Carroll County. The accident involved a school bus, a Chevrolet Trailblazer, and a Tennessee Department of Transportation dump truck.
Officials said that while the dump truck was present, it does not appear to have directly caused the crash. Investigators are still working to understand exactly what happened.
At the time of the incident, the bus was carrying 25 students and five adults from Kenwood Middle School in Clarksville. They were travelling for a field trip to Jackson, Tennessee.
Injuries and Emergency Response
Authorities confirmed that two students lost their lives in the crash. At least seven others were seriously injured and transported by air ambulance to nearby hospitals.
Some of the injured were taken to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, where officials said they were in stable condition. Others were treated at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Carroll County, where multiple individuals were evaluated and later released.
The exact number of injured individuals is still being clarified.

Officials described the incident as “a parent’s worst nightmare,” reflecting the emotional impact of the loss. The tragedy has deeply affected students, parents, teachers, and the wider community.
Principal Karen Miller shared a message with families, calling the incident unimaginable. She urged parents to support their children emotionally during this difficult time.
Counselors will be available at the school to help students and staff cope with grief and trauma.
