Reggie Townsend, a 34-year-old Oregon man recently released from prison for manslaughter, faces first-degree murder charges for allegedly torturing and beating Kolton Esparza, an unhoused man, to death near the Eulolona Trailhead in Klamath Falls. His sister, Jamie Harrington, is charged with second-degree murder for reportedly driving him, Esparza, and another male to the remote site.

Crime Details

Esparza was discovered nude, severely beaten with bound wrists, and suffering fatal head trauma from a rock and stomping—methods Townsend confessed to in a letter to his girlfriend: “I beat Kolton with a rock and stomped him out with my shoes.” Harrington admitted picking up the group from Summers Lane in her 2006 Dodge Dakota, ignoring Esparza’s drop-off request.

Prior Record

Townsend had posted on Facebook post-release: “I’m fresh outta prison and I’m vibing,” highlighting his short return to violence after a manslaughter stint. The vacant residence site showed clear torture signs, per the probable cause affidavit.
