A 27-year-old man from Ohio is facing multiple serious charges after allegedly shooting another man at a bar — and then laughing about it while in jail. Jacob Brady has been officially indicted and could face significant prison time if convicted.
What Happened at Pat’s Bar
The incident took place in the early morning hours of June 22 at Pat’s Bar, a popular pool hall located on Linden Avenue in Dayton, Ohio. According to police, Brady shot a 23-year-old man inside the bar, reportedly over a woman.
Witnesses told investigators that Brady was upset because the victim was dating a woman Brady had an interest in. However, that woman was not interested in Brady at all, according to witness statements shared in court documents.
Shooting Details and Investigation
The Dayton Police Department responded to reports of gunshots at the bar. When they arrived, they found witnesses and a bartender who provided video footage of the shooting. The video reportedly shows Brady firing two rounds at the victim, and bullet casings were recovered from the scene.
The victim, whose name hasn’t been released, managed to take a ride-share to a nearby hospital. He was listed in critical condition.
Brady was arrested shortly after and reportedly confessed to shooting the man. He claimed the victim had been making threats, but several witnesses disputed that version, saying no threats were made.
Brady’s Disturbing Jail Behavior
While being held in the Montgomery County Jail, Brady allegedly made disturbing comments about the shooting. Police say he was laughing and even joked about putting the incident on a T-shirt with the phrase: “BLAM, that boy down.”
These remarks were reportedly overheard by other inmates and added to the evidence against him.
Charges and Legal Proceedings
Jacob Brady has been indicted on two counts of felonious assault — both with firearm specifications — one count of tampering with evidence, and one count of illegal firearm possession on liquor-licensed premises. He also faces two probation violations and was earlier charged with carrying a concealed weapon.
Each of these charges, especially those involving firearms, could lead to serious prison time if he’s convicted.
Brady is still in jail and was initially held on a $250,000 bond. His arraignment is scheduled for July 8.
The shocking bar shooting in Dayton highlights how quickly violence can erupt over personal disputes. Jacob Brady now faces a long list of charges and potential years behind bars. As the investigation continues, authorities are relying on witness accounts, security footage, and Brady’s own words to build their case. The community now awaits the court’s next steps as the victim continues to recover from critical injuries.
