A Minnesota man allegedly ran over his wife after she jumped out of their car during an argument — and then told police about it.
Jeremy Micheal Davidson, 48, has been charged with criminal vehicular homicide in connection with the death of his wife, Melissa Davidson. According to the criminal complaint, officers responded to reports of a “possible motor vehicle accident” near County Road 17 and 310th Street in Sibley County, some 70 miles southwest of Minneapolis.
“The caller stated that his wife jumped out of the vehicle and was run over,” the complaint reads.
When cops arrived, they found a Dodge Ram pickup that was “stopped but still running,” according to the complaint. Jeremy Davidson was discovered “laying on top of the vehicle” and had to be removed by police.
According to the complaint, the defendant was clearly drunk.
“Law enforcement smelled the odor of alcoholic beverages coming from defendant and observed that defendant had slurred speech,” according to the complaint!
Jeremy Davidson reportedly informed authorities that he and his wife had been drinking the night before he drove.
“Defendant stated that while they were driving home, his wife ‘got p—ed’ and jumped out of the truck,” according to the lawsuit! “Defendant stated that his wife had gotten mad and started punching him.”
He “told her to stop, and that is when she opened the door and jumped out of the truck,” according to the lawsuit.
The man apparently refused to take sobriety tests at the scene, but once he was placed in a squad car after being arrested, officials say he became quite talkative.
“Prison. According to a study of squad car camera footage, Jeremy Davidson allegedly said, “I am going to prison, and she is dead.”
“I killed my wife,” he reportedly stated.
He also appeared to be in amazement over the entire incident, including his wife’s conduct.
“Just gets drunk, jumps out of a f—ing truck,” he told me. “Make it make sense.”
“One drunk dumb f—ing move,” he allegedly stated, later adding, “I just killed my wife, dude.” I don’t understand why you would leap off of a truck going 50 miles per hour. “Why would you do that?”
At one point, the defendant seemed to wish he could turn back the clock.
“Bring her back,” he allegedly stated. “I’ll go for life. Please bring my wife back.”
The person was brought to a neighboring hospital and pronounced dead.
The complaint states that Jeremy Davidson was convicted of felony DWI in 2007.
According to court records, he was released from detention on Tuesday subject to various conditions, including electronic monitoring and abstaining from alcohol and narcotics.
Jeremy Davidson faces up to ten years in prison if convicted of vehicular murder and seven years for DWI. He has a hearing planned for January 29.
