A tragic stray bullet killed 7-month-old Kaori Patterson-Moore in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg neighborhood on April 1, 2026, around 1:20 p.m. She was in a stroller on a busy sidewalk with her mother, Lianna Charles-Moore, in broad daylight—not the intended target in what NYPD calls a gang-related shooting.

Incident Details

Two men on a moped pulled up; the rear passenger fired at least two rounds. The moped crashed into a car two blocks away, ejecting both. The shooter lost his shoes on impact, was hospitalized after a 911 call, and ID’d by clothing—21-year-old Amuri Greene, now charged with murder and two counts of attempted murder while in custody on an unrelated probe.

Mother’s Grief

Charles-Moore told CBS News New York her “always laughing” daughter had just said “mama.” Fighting tears, she said: “I can’t hold her anymore. She’s gone… I gotta bury her now.” Her son keeps asking for his sister, leaving her at a loss.

Manhunt Underway

The driver fled on foot toward Marcy Houses wearing light grey pants, white T-shirt, and black surgical mask. NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch announced a “massive manhunt.” No further updates from NYPD as of April 4.

This underscores urban gun violence’s random toll—innocent bystanders like Kaori caught in crossfire. RIP to the little one.
