Addison Martinez, 37, faces charges including malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, family violence, and possession of a knife during a felony for the death of his mother, 59-year-old Vida Martinez. The stabbing occurred in late October 2025 at her apartment on Oyster Shell Road, Wilmington Island, about 10 miles southeast of Savannah, Georgia. Her daughter discovered the body; Vida had been stabbed at least once, per Chatham County Police and the coroner’s office.
Investigation and Arrest
That night, police found Vida’s stolen car abandoned in a Pooler commercial lot, 20 miles northwest, identifying Addison as a suspect. They released a photo his mother took the day before. A multi-agency manhunt ended October 28 when he was arrested at a Parker’s gas station nearby. Neighbors reportedly heard screams from a friend in the complex. He was initially charged with felony murder after questioning and held without bond in Chatham County Jail. A grand jury indicted him this week.
Recent History
Five days prior, on October 22, 2025, Addison was released on $178 bond from Glynn County Jail after eight months for aggravated assault and terroristic threats. Vida’s obituary described her as a devoted mother, art collector, and optimist who cherished her grandchildren.
