Ladamien Keith Hill, 43, has been arrested and charged with premeditated first-degree murder in connection to the brutal stabbing deaths of his sister, Linda Hill, 41, and her 12-year-old son, Kardi Jackson. The two victims were found dead inside their Hazel Park home on Berdeno Avenue on Monday evening, with multiple slash wounds to their throats.
The Discovery of the Bodies
The grim discovery was made by Linda Hill’s uncle, who lived in the basement of the residence. The uncle had called police after hearing loud noises, initially believing that only his niece and grandnephew were at home while he watched TV. Authorities later found both Linda and Kardi dead at the scene.
Tying the Suspect to the Crime Scene
Ladamien Hill was linked to the crime through a red Lincoln vehicle seen near the home before and after the murders. Authorities reported that the car left the area around the time of the killings and then drove away entirely. Later that same night, Ladamien Hill allegedly showed up at the house in the same red Lincoln, where family members had difficulty locating him after the crime.
When the family spoke to police, they described a troubling encounter. After the police cleared the crime scene, Ladamien reportedly entered the home uninvited, saying “forgive me,” and went to Linda’s bedroom, where he remained for 5-15 minutes before leaving.
Evidence Found During Searches
On Sept. 2, investigators searched both Hill’s car and residence, finding blood inside the vehicle and on clothing in his home. The blood was suspected to be from the crime scene. Video evidence also showed Hill wearing clothing that linked him to the crime after the homicide, although the precise connection between the clothing and the evidence remains unclear.
A Motive Yet to Be Revealed
As of now, authorities have not determined a clear motive for the killings. The Hazel Park Police Department stated, “At this time, we still do not know why this horrific crime occurred. We can only hope that court proceedings to follow may shed some light on that question.”
Court Appearance and Future Proceedings
Ladamien Hill was arraigned on Friday, where he stood silently as his attorney entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf. His next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 16, for a probable cause hearing.
Prosecutor’s Statement
Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald expressed her heartbreak over the case, saying, “This is a case of shocking and deplorable violence against a single mother and her son in their own home. Linda Hill and Kardi Jackson should still be with us. My heart goes out to their family as they grieve for their loss.”
