A deadly hit-and-run in Morristown has triggered a major search operation, with authorities looking for a suspect accused of fleeing after fatally striking a pedestrian.

Suspect Accused in Fatal Hit-and-Run

Wilson Adrian Morocho-Necta, 33, is wanted in connection with the death of Justo Pilco-Tenesaca, 68. According to officials, the incident happened early Friday morning near Sussex Avenue.

Police say the suspect drove a work truck into the victim at a crosswalk, pinning him underneath the vehicle. After the crash, he allegedly got out and ran away from the scene.

Victim Dies After Being Hospitalised

Emergency services rushed Pilco-Tenesaca to a nearby hospital, but he later died from his injuries. The incident has left the local community shocked and grieving.

Search Efforts Underway

Authorities, including federal agencies, are actively searching for the suspect. The Department of Homeland Security has also issued a public appeal asking for information that could help locate him.

Officials say Morocho-Necta was last seen wearing a white hoodie and jeans. He is believed to have been driving a construction company truck at the time of the incident.

Immigration History Under Review

Federal authorities stated that the suspect had previously entered the United States in 2019 and was deported. They believe he later re-entered the country, though details about when and how remain unclear.

This aspect of the case is being handled separately under federal immigration laws.

Charges and Investigation

The suspect is facing multiple charges, including:

  • Leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death
  • Endangering an injured victim

Local prosecutors have said they will coordinate with federal agencies while following state and federal laws.
