A 42-year-old man in Brooklyn is believed to have fatally slashed his mother’s home care attendant in a fit of rage before jumping to his death from the roof of a 13-story senior living building in Bushwick, police said.

The Attack

At around 12:30 p.m. on Linden Street near Wilson Avenue, the suspect allegedly slashed the 53-year-old caretaker in the head and right arm inside the Linden Grove Senior Residences, a newly constructed building for seniors. The attack appeared to be triggered by anger over his mother’s treatment, according to police sources.

The Aftermath

After the violent attack, the suspect ran to the roof of the building, where he plunged to his death. Authorities confirmed that the man suffered injuries consistent with a fall from an elevated position and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the caretaker was rushed to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, where she was listed in stable condition.

Investigation and Suspect Identification

Police have not yet released the suspect’s name and are waiting to notify his family before doing so. Investigators are still working to understand the full details of the attack and the suspect’s motive.
