Courtney Shaw, a 47-year-old assistant principal at Free Home Elementary School in Cumming, Georgia, faces felony shoplifting charges for allegedly stealing over $900 worth of merchandise from a Woodstock Walmart on 98 occasions between November 2 and December 31, 2025.
Theft Method
Shaw reportedly stacked two items at self-checkout, scanned only one, and placed both in her bag or cart before leaving, captured on surveillance footage linked to her vehicles—a 2018 Ford F-150 and 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Walmart reported the thefts on January 12, 2026; investigators matched her via driver’s license database and confirmed vehicles at her home.
School and Arrest Response
Shaw, with over 20 years in education including prior roles at Bascomb Elementary, was placed on administrative leave by Cherokee County School District pending investigations. She was arrested January 19, booked into Cherokee County Jail, and released same day on nearly $5,000 bond; her next court date is March 5.
