A person was shot at a car dealership in northeast Columbia on Friday, and authorities responded.
According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to the Volkswagen dealership at 440 Killian Road around 11 a.m. Friday after receiving reports of a shooting. When they arrived, deputies discovered a male with gunshot wounds.
The victim was transported by EMS to a nearby hospital for treatment.
“The patient was alive at the time he was being transported,” the sheriff’s department stated in a statement.
According to the sheriff’s department, the suspect(s) fled the scene before deputies arrived. Authorities also stated that they believed it was an isolated incident. The sheriff’s department asked the public to avoid the Killian Road dealership by midday Friday to allow investigators to work.
