Daddy fell: According to authorities, a man shot and killed his girlfriend “with her hands in front of her face” while their two small children were inside the home.

Demarco Jones, 29, faces second-degree intentional murder charges for fatally shooting Tatianna Ehnes-Giles, 26, the mother of his children, during a murder-suicide attempt in their Dakota County, Minnesota, home on December 24, 2025. Ehnes-Giles’ mother discovered the scene after their two young children reported a loud noise and “Daddy fell”; Jones, who shot himself, admitted “I shot her” while claiming she shot him first. Deputies recovered the gun and casings; Ehnes-Giles died at the scene with defensive wounds, while Jones survived and is hospitalized.

Incident Circumstances

The couple’s children were present when Ehnes-Giles was shot in the head; her brother reported Jones claiming he caught her cheating. Ehnes-Giles’ mother called 911 at 2:23 p.m., finding Jones groaning on the bedroom floor in a trance-like state.

Legal Status

Dakota County set $2 million bond for Jones, who remains in custody at the hospital until medically cleared for jail booking. His court appearance is scheduled for January 5, 2026.
