Dad Blocked Son from Killing Four Children and Was Stabbed in the Head — Then Blocked Police from Opening Fire on Son

A Florida dad spared the lives of four children and the man who threatened to kill them: his son.

Trevor Nieves-Gonzalez, 22, was arrested on November 2 after deputies from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a young man who had previously wounded one person and threatened to kill four children.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they allegedly discovered Nieves-Gonzalez on the front lawn with his father, who had been preventing him from entering the home and potentially killing the children inside. The property was located in Delton, some 30 miles north of Orlando.

Body camera footage from the arrest shows the suspect’s father rushing to defend Nieves-Gonzalez when he discovered the deputy was armed and firing at his son.

Nieves-Gonzalez was finally convinced to drop the huge hunting knife he had been holding up until that time, at which point two officers approached him and attempted to handcuff him.

The guy was observed yelling, giving the deputies the middle finger, and then spitting on one of the men, at which point a Taser was deployed.

When Nieves-Gonzalez was blasted with the Taser, he instantly slumped to the ground, and officers were able to handcuff him.

Body camera footage revealed that it was not until this time that the suspect’s father informed deputies that he had been stabbed in the back of the head before their arrival.

The father was treated for that injury and others while his son was in custody, and he is now facing four counts of aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony, four counts of child abuse, and one count each of aggravated battery, resisting an officer with violence, and battery on a law enforcement officer.

According to his court docket, Nieves-Gonzalez is scheduled to return to court for his official arraignment on December 4, following his first court appearance on November 3.

Nieves-Gonzalez was appointed a public defender at his initial court appearance, but he did not return a request for comment.
