A gunman opened fire on an apartment tower in Texas, injuring at least five teenagers.
According to KTSM and CBS 4 Local, a group of 15 to 17-year-olds were in an outdoor area of the Commissioner’s Corner Apartments on Montana Avenue in East El Paso just before 9 p.m. local time on Monday, Sept. 22, when they appeared to get into an altercation.
Officer Adrian Cisneros told the media that a man began shooting as the dispute heated up.
ABC News reports that two women and three men were transported to the hospital after being struck in the incident.
According to KTSM, one of the female victims may have sustained serious wounds, while the other four had “non-life-threatening injuries.”
In a video released on YouTube by the news channel, multiple first responders can be seen arriving at the gunshot scene while bystanders shout.
A 15-year-old has been arrested, but authorities believe it is too early to tell whether or not they were the gunman, CBS 4 Local said.
The apartment complex in the 10700 block of Montana is currently closed due to an ongoing investigation into the incident. According to KTSM, Crimes Against Persons, the Gang Unit, and the Crime Scene Unit all responded to the incident.
The El Paso Police Department did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on Tuesday, September 23.
