A 25-year-old Indiana mother faces neglect of a dependent resulting in death after her 15-month-old son, Isais Pascual-Hernandez, suffocated in an unsafe sleep setup left unattended for hours.

Incident Response
On November 14, 2025, Evansville Police and medics arrived at Moodie’s Cass Court apartment around 4:22 p.m. for a reported medical emergency. Moodie stated she couldn’t wake her “stiff” son; responders found him unresponsive on the entryway floor near a messy home littered with food, trash, and cat feces, beyond lifesaving efforts.

Unsafe Sleep Conditions
In Isais’ room, a Pack ‘n Play held an oversized mattress wedged L-shaped with an impermeable waterproof sheet posing a suffocation risk. Moodie reported placing him there around 9 a.m. after a THC gummy, napping intermittently herself; his father returned at 2 p.m. but didn’t check. She discovered him seven hours later with the sheet wrapped around his head, neck marks, and blue lips—autopsy confirmed asphyxia by unsafe bedding, possibly with strangulation.

Legal Proceedings
Moodie admitted the sheet often came loose despite tucking. She’s held without bond at Vanderburgh County Jail post-initial appearance Monday, with a March 26 court date.
