Center mass shots: Woman claims husband died after battle over gun, but her Google searches show otherwise, cops say.

Susan “Michelle” Perry, 54, faces first-degree murder charges in the death of her 58-year-old husband, Robert “Joe” Perry, at their Huntersville, North Carolina home on November 10, 2025.

Incident Overview

Police arrived around 1 p.m. to find Susan kneeling near Robert, who had a chest gunshot wound in his office; a firearm lay on a nearby table with blood droplets around a stool. She initially claimed hearing a “thud,” discovering him bleeding, and calling 911, reporting it as a suicide.

Investigation Findings

Her phone revealed searches for her husband’s wedding ring value, “what to do if your husband wants divorce and you have no money,” and “center mass shots”. Re-interviewed on February 6, 2026, she alleged a divorce argument led to her husband grabbing the gun; she claimed grabbing it in fear caused a struggle and accidental discharge at close range, but detectives noted inconsistencies in her 911 delay and gun placement.

Current Status

Perry was arrested recently, held in Mecklenburg County Jail on $150,000 bond with conditions like electronic monitoring if released, and is due in court February 27.
