A Florida man is in jail after reportedly beating his girlfriend with a speaker and a kitchen utensil holder while she slept, then killing her dog, who was trying to defend her.
Elliot Mack, 52, is charged with domestic assault and animal cruelty following an incident on October 20 in Bellview, just north of The Villages.
In a probable cause arrest affidavit, cops stated that a 911 caller repeatedly said “‘he beat her’ and that there was blood all over the walls.” When cops arrived at the scene, they noticed the claimed victim “crawling” out of the house. She had bruises all over her body and was bleeding from the mouth and face. She felt “hysterical and disoriented.”
According to the complaint, the woman stated that her boyfriend, Mack, began striking her with a kitchen utensil holder and a speaker before slamming a dresser on top of her while she slept in her bed. Mack then allegedly killed her chihuahua, who was attempting to defend her. She couldn’t explain how he murdered the dog, but she did say she saw it dead and there was blood everywhere, according to investigators.
According to authorities, Mack left the home before returning and beating the victim again. He fled, but the claimed victim feared Mack was “coming back to kill her and trying to take everything from her.”
Officers spoke with a neighbor, who stated that the victim had phoned her for help. The neighbor contacted 911 after hearing about the claimed victim. She saw Mack leave and threatened the alleged victim if he saw her again. The neighbor claims Mack abuses the victim twice or three times every week, but no one reports it, according to the affidavit.
Paramedics examined the alleged victim and found that her blood pressure was “dangerously high,” but she refused to go to the hospital. Cops examined the house and discovered a lot of blood and a dead dog in a pillowcase.
“Based on the apparent visible injuries, it appeared that the dog had unnecessarily suffered and died a cruel death,” the investigating officers concluded.
On November 3, police secured an arrest warrant for Mack and hauled him into custody. Mack, who pleaded not guilty, remains in the Marion County Jail without bond. His next court date is scheduled for December 2.
