An uncle was sentenced for killing his 6-year-old niece and concealing her body in concrete for nearly 20 years, according to reports.

Noriyuki Iimori, a 42-year-old man in Japan, was sentenced to eight years in prison on March 13, 2026, for beating his 6-year-old niece Reina Iwamoto to death in late 2006-early 2007 and concealing her body in a concrete-filled container for nearly two decades.

Osaka District Court convicted him of causing death by injury and abandoning the body after her remains were found in Yao, Osaka Prefecture, in February 2025; he had moved the container between homes as recently as November 2024.

Crime Details

Iwamoto, born in 2000 and daughter of Iimori’s half-sister, lived with him in Osaka’s Hirano Ward starting in 2006.

Prosecutors described a “fierce assault driven by anger,” including punches to her face and kicks to her back and waist, leading to her death.

Investigation Timeline

Her skeletal remains were discovered during a property search; Iimori was arrested weeks later, with the long concealment highlighted in court.
