Myron Chorbajian, a former South Carolina pastor at 1st Southern Methodist Church in Greenville, and his wife Kathleen face extensive child abuse charges spanning decades, including sexual assault, physical torment, and neglect of their adopted children.
Abuse Allegations
Arrest warrants detail Myron allegedly punching a child in the face, confining one victim in a trash can for three days while forcing them to eat its contents, making children scavenge dumpsters for rotten food, and compelling one to eat dirt. He reportedly paddled a naked child 50 times, beat another with a belt until unconscious, ran over and shot a girl’s pet kitten in front of her, killed a dog and forced a child to bury it, and sexually abused multiple female children; Kathleen allegedly knew of some incidents but failed to stop or report them.
Arrests and Charges
The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office investigated after a victim reported 1980s-era abuse in April 2025, leading to the couple’s arrest in Nashville on May 15, 2025. Myron faces three counts each of incest and criminal sexual conduct with a minor (11-14), plus second-degree criminal sexual conduct, additional sexual conduct and incest counts, two assault with intent to kill charges, and more; both were charged with 14 counts of unlawful child endangerment and two second-degree assault and battery counts.
Case Status
Additional charges emerged in June 2025. In February 2026, Kathleen was released on bond to house arrest, barred from contact with minors, victims, or Myron. The case drew renewed attention then, with no trial date specified in reports.
