Mohamed Osman Adan, 36, received a life sentence with parole eligibility after 25 years on December 30, 2025, for the second-degree murder of his domestic partner, Racheal Abraham, on August 27, 2022, in their southeast Portland apartment. Prosecutors highlighted his escalating violence, including punching her in May 2022 over a text message and strangling her in June while threatening to kill her, despite her restraining order.
Prior Incidents
Abraham reported Adan punching her head twice on May 2, 2022, leading to charges; he violated her restraining order on June 23 by entering their home, breaking her phone, and strangling her repeatedly. He cut off a GPS monitor after supervised release, faced a reduced $20,000 bail posted by the Portland Freedom Fund five days before the murder.
Murder and Sentencing
Adan stabbed Abraham’s face and body before strangling her to death in front of their three young children; the medical examiner confirmed homicide by strangulation post-stabbing. Multnomah County DA criticized the bail decision, noting Abraham’s pleas for detention; Adan pleaded guilty this week.
