A violent altercation in Shreveport early Sunday morning resulted in a woman being shot after a confrontation with her boyfriend. The incident took place on Dowdell Street, and the woman was later found hiding in the woods, suffering from a gunshot wound.
The Incident
Just after 10 a.m., Shreveport police responded to reports of shots fired at a home on the 8600 block of Dowdell Street. Upon arrival, officers learned that the 36-year-old man had been involved in an argument with his girlfriend. According to the man, the argument escalated when the woman left the house, threatening to return with a gun and kill him.
The man said he barricaded the front door of his home in an attempt to keep her out. When the woman returned, he heard gunshots from outside and claimed she forced her way back inside the house. In the process, the man reportedly shot her once.
Woman Found Hiding in the Woods
After the shooting, police located the woman hiding in the woods near the home. She did not initially comply with officers, prompting them to use a taser to subdue her. She was then taken to the hospital, where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
