Crystal Royster, a 42-year-old mother from Michigan, received a sentence including jail time and probation for making false bomb threats to Lake Shore High School in St. Clair Shores. The incident stemmed from her daughter’s exclusion from a school play due to illness.
Incident Details
On March 12, 2025, Royster called the school twice, falsely claiming a bomb was present after learning her daughter could not participate per school policy. This led to the evacuation of over 700 people, with police from St. Clair Shores and other areas confirming no explosives.
Sentencing
Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Michael E. Servitto imposed 14 days in county jail (with 3 days credited) followed by 18 months probation after Royster’s guilty plea to a felony false bomb threat charge, which carried up to 4 years possible. She must complete an impulse control course, notify the school before entering grounds, and avoid contact with victims.
Prosecutor Statement
Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido noted the act caused major disruption despite the probation outcome.
